Nick Stanhope

Nick came up with the idea of this trip and has been balancing its organisation with a full time teaching position for the last year. Nick finished his Modern History degree at St. John's, Oxford, in 2002 and whilst there participated in a number of voluntary events. He undertook a smaller scale cycling trip in 1998 from Copenhagen to London, which raised £6, 000 for Imperial Cancer Research, and he has helped raise money for causes in South Africa and Zimbabwe, where he taught English for a year in 1999 at Prince Edward School, Harare. He wants to continue working in the voluntary sector and hopes to return to southern Africa to do so.

Nick has put on dinners, parties, and auctions that have raised thousands of pounds and organised equipment and flight sponsorship, through a number of very generous companies.
